Dwell: IKEA hack

Leila Blog-19

My hubby and I both have expensive taste. As we have started remodeling and redecorating our new home, this has been one of our biggest obstacles. We often find pieces we love, then look at the price tag and change our minds. These are some of our tricks around this to still get something similar to what you want without the price tag.  Let’s start with our office. We found an awesome, bookshelf storage piece that was mid-century modern and we loved it, but weren’t willing to pay for it.  On one of our many trips to IKEA we found this bookshelf and Nick had the great idea to spray paint it to give it more of the vintage look we were going for.  The thing I loved about this unit was the different possibilities, variety of sizes, mix and match options and even drawers to hide items you might not want to see.

More sneak peaks of our remodel to come but doesn’t the honed concrete floor look amazing!
